Fue dirigida por Dianne Jackson para el servicio p\u00fablico brit\u00e1nico Channel 4. Se mostr\u00f3 por primera vez el 26 de diciembre de 1982 y fue un \u00e9xito inmediato. Fue nominado a Mejor Cortometraje de Animaci\u00f3n en la 55\u00aa edici\u00f3n de los Premios de la Academia y gan\u00f3 un premio BAFTA TV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">La historia se cuenta a trav\u00e9s de im\u00e1genes, acci\u00f3n y m\u00fasica, con m\u00fasica de Howard Blake y no tiene palabras, con la excepci\u00f3n de la canci\u00f3n central \u00abWalking in the Air\u00bb. La partitura orquestal fue interpretada en la pel\u00edcula por la Sinfon\u00eda de Londres y la canci\u00f3n fue interpretada por Peter Auty, un ni\u00f1o del coro de la Catedral de San Pablo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">El especial ocup\u00f3 el puesto 71 en los 100 mejores programas de televisi\u00f3n brit\u00e1nicos, una lista elaborada por el British Film Institute en 2000, basada en una votaci\u00f3n de profesionales de la industria.[2] Fue votado como el n\u00famero 4 en los mejores momentos navide\u00f1os televisivos de UKTV Gold.
